One month, 1,000 subscribers: Help shape the future of Orland.News

By Todd Bishop and Steve Nordbye, Orland.News
When we started Orland.News over a weekend in late April, we hoped it might help to keep people informed. We had no idea how eager this community was for the kind of in-depth, independent journalism we wanted to provide.
A little more than a month later, more than 1,000 of you have signed up to receive our emails and follow our coverage. Isn't that crazy? We can hardly believe it ourselves.
We're excited to see where this goes from here, and we'd welcome your help. We've put together a brief survey (it takes about 3 minutes) to better understand what you want from Orland.News. Your input will help us decide everything from how often to publish to what topics deserve deeper coverage.
In addition to our coverage of city government and key issues like the closures at Black Butte Lake and the threat to Glenn Medical Center, our weekly Orland Police roundups are proving very popular. We also know some of our newest subscribers are very interested in Orland High School coverage. (Don't worry, we've got more OHS stories in the works.)
We're also dreaming about ways to turn this side project into something independently sustainable. With that in mind, one survey question gauges interest in a membership program to help support Orland.News. And if you know any local businesses that would benefit from reaching a concentrated local audience of engaged readers, we’d love to talk.
In the meantime, if you want to support this work, please share Orland.News with a friend, family member, or someone else in the community who'd value staying informed.
