About Orland.News

Orland.News is the creation of two Orland High graduates— Todd Bishop and Steve Nordbye — who were both raised here and share a deep passion for their hometown.
Todd is a journalist and co-founder of GeekWire.com, a Seattle-based media outlet. Over the years, his writing has appeared in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Chico Enterprise-Record, Puget Sound Business Journal, Seattle Post-Intelligencer, Sacramento Valley Mirror, and, way back when, the Orland High School Oracle.
Steve has spent much of his career managing service departments in the automotive industry. In recent years, he’s added "olive grower" and "Orland City Planning Commissioner" to his list of titles. Like Todd, he got his start writing for the Orland High School Oracle.
Despite different career paths, Todd and Steve shared a common frustration: the lack of a reliable online source for real news about Orland. They weren’t looking for just weather updates or brief highlights — nor were they satisfied with whatever stories the regional TV stations chose to cover. They wanted reporting that digs deeper, explores the facts, and leaves readers with a better understanding of what’s really happening in the community.
After many conversations about local events (and a few good ideas over “coffee”), Orland.News was born — a web and email-based source focused on delivering the news Orland deserves. We’re here to provide facts, offer context, and occasionally share opinions when they matter.
At Orland.News, we know that speaking up isn’t always easy in a small town. You’ll see the same faces at SavMor, the hardware store, or under the Friday night lights. But we believe honest reporting matters — even when it means a few awkward moments in the checkout line. Our goal is to share the facts, tell the real stories, and stay true to the community we all care about. Thanks for being part of it.
We’re glad you’re here. Welcome to Orland.News.
